What’s the purpose of this site?
The short answer is to give me a place to post information I’ve found useful in my daily I.T. job. I’ve attmpted to do this in the past, but haven’t kept up with it. I’m hoping to do a little better this time around.
Who is this “I” person?
I am Eric and I’ve been working in the technology field for 25+ years. I started out working for a small consulting company close to home while in high school. I learned how to build PC’s and started to learn about networking. I then spent about a year working at vocational school doing tech support for the staff. After that I started working for a state agency . I’ve spent most of career at this same location. I started out as the “new guy” who found out quickly that he didn’t know as much as he thought and worked my way up to become the Infrastructur Manager.
I’ve worked with a lot of different technology and software over the years. I tried to take advantage of any oppurtunity I could to learn something new. I’ve been in the trenches working the help desk, setting up and running various servers, building out an enterprise network, and helping maintain security. I’m not sure you can work in the field and ever stop learning.
Here are some of the things I’ve worked with.
