What is this site for?

This site is where I share information I’ve picked up over the course of my IT career—practical notes, how-tos, and lessons learned that I hope others in the field will find useful.

Who am I?

I’m Eric, and I’ve worked in technology for over 25 years. I got my start in high school with a small local consulting company, where I learned to build PCs and got my first exposure to networking. After a year supporting staff at a vocational school, I moved into a role with a state agency—where I’ve spent the majority of my career, starting as the “new guy” and working my way up to Infrastructure Manager.

Along the way, I’ve worked hands-on with a wide range of technologies: staffing the help desk, deploying and managing servers, building out enterprise networks, and helping secure it all. If there’s one thing this field has taught me, it’s that you never really stop learning.
